Need to know: Big weekend ahead for Panthers

UPEI hosts Acadia Friday and SMU on Saturday

Forbie MacPherson's UPEI Panthers (6-5-1) hosts Acadia (4-7-2) Friday and 8th ranked SMU (10-3-1), on Saturday.  Both games are at MacLauchlan Arena with 7pm start times. UPEI has beaten Acadia twice this year by scores of 5-3 and 8-3. The Panthers have split the previous two games with SMU, winning 3-2 and losing 6-1.

Headrick named UPEI Male Athlete of the Week

Owen Headrick is a first-year arts student from Garden River, Ontario and a rookie defenseman on the UPEI Men's Hockey team. Headrick scored a goal and notched an assist in the Panthers 5–3 win over St. Francis Xavier University and was selected Subway Player of the Game. "Owen has been adjusting well to our league," said coach Forbes MacPherson. "He has a steady and calming influence to our defensive core, especially for a first-year player. It is nice to see him get rewarded offensively. He has high-end skill, and is a player we will continue to lean on!"
