(Halifax, N.S.) The Saint Mary's Huskies halted their three-game slide with a 9-1 victory over the UPEI Panthers at the Halifax Forum Saturday night.
It was a balanced attack from the Huskies. Jake Coughler (St. Catharines, Ont.) and Anthony Repaci (Toronto, Ont.) scored twice, while Taylor Burke (Halifax, N.S.), Bronson Beaton (Springhill, N.S.), Calder Brooks (Emerald Park, Sask.), Alex Cord (Toronto, Ont.) and Aaron Berisha (Mississauga, Ont.) each added a goal.
Hunter Garlent (Thorold, Ont.) had three assists. Bradley Latour (Barrie, Ont.), Adam Bateman (Caledon, Ont.) and Dylan DiPerna added two helpers each, while Thomas Stavert (Kensington, P.E.I.), Conor McGlynn (Oakville, Ont.), Alexander Peters (Blyth, Ont.), Repaci and Burke had one assist.
Eric Brassard (St. Hubert, Que.) finished with 11 saves in his ninth win of the season. Jake Couglher was named the Subway Player of the Game.
Saint Mary's started fast scoring just 1:41 into the game. They went into the first intermission up 3-0.
UPEI made it 3-1 halfway through the second and Saint Mary's responded with another two goals for a 5-1 lead through 40-minutes.
Shots were 38-12 overall for SMU.
Up next, the Huskies travel to Moncton N.B. to face les Aigles Bleus on Wednesday February 7, while the Panthers are at home in Charlottetown, P.E.I. to host the Dalhousie Tigers on Friday, February 9.
