UPEI Exhibition Play at Mt. A

The UPEI Women's Volleyball team had another strong outing in exhibition volleyball play Friday evening at Mount Allison University in Sackville.

In addition to the Lady Panthers, the three team exhibition matches included the Fredericton U18 Reds, and the MtA Mounties. The Reds are one of the strongest U18 teams in the region, and boast an extremely tall and athletic starting lineup. The Mounties are currently in third place in the eight team ACAA volleyball conference, behind the league leading MSVU Mystics and the Holland College Hurricanes. UPEI does not play in a league, but plays exhibition matches and tournaments.

MtA and the Reds split the opening two games 21-25, 25-19, while UPEI swept the Fredericton U18 team in straight sets 25-19, 25-7.

In the final match of the night between UPEI and MtA, the Mounties won the first set 25-22 before UPEI stormed back to take the second 25-17. The teams were tied at 17-17 in the third set before MtA edged ahead to win 25-21.

The Panthers are hoping to play in a Volleyball New Brunswick tournament later in February.
