UPEI Volleyball Enjoys Successful Weekend

The UPEI Women's Volleyball Team had a busy day on Saturday, playing in the Volleyball PEI Sr. Women's Championships during the day, and attending UPEI's Panther Celebration in the evening.

UPEI White won the Division 2 Championship by beating Eastlink 25-17 in the Semifinal, and Blackout 25-20 in the final.

UPEI White included Madison Scott, Cassie MacLean, Kathleen Sullivan, Victoria MacDonald, Erika Miller, Megan Sullivan and Leah Robinson.

Later in the day, UPEI Green beat Chaos in the Division 1 bronze medal match. The Green team had lost to tourney championship Block Party in the semi-final.  UPEI Green included Karli Aucoin, Kendra Carpenter, Rachel Hughes, Breanne Lewis, Sam Gerbig and Abbie Ronalds. Alyssa Fleming had injured her knee in practice last week, and was unable to play.

Erika Miller received the Panther Rookie of the Year Award and Rachel Hughes the Most Valuable Player during the UPEI Athletic Awards Celebration. Karli Aucoin is the only Panther Volleyball player graduating this year, but will return next year to play volleyball and complete her BEd.  The team had a busy and successful year, and all 13 players are eligible to return in September.
