Regular Season Begins… Calling On The Panther Faithful!

The exhibition portion of our season now gives way to the real deal! The AUS begins regular season play across the board this week, with all eight teams in action. We begin the season at home, where we are a league best 43-6 over the past five years in conference play. We play the much improved St. F. X. X-Men this Friday and Saturday night, with tip-offs scheduled for 8:00pm. X has had a very strong preseason, and is coming off a huge tournament title win at the CBU Fall Classic. They are a veteran laden roster, that has brought in a number of new complimentary pieces. This X team appears to be solid in all areas, and we know that we are going to have our hands full if we want to get a W. Coach Konchalski, all time wins leader in CIS history, has done another great job with his program. I know first hand how great a coach he is, having been at his side with the N.S. Canada Games program from 2000-2002. We expect that X will be very hungry, due to their great early season play and the fact that they have narrowly missed the playoffs the past two seasons. We will have to match their intensity and energy level early, that is an absolute must for us. Some other keys for us are going to be rebounding and limiting turnovers. We feel we must limit their second chance opportunities on the offensive glass, and make good decisions with the basketball against their intense pressure. We feel that if we can do a good job in these areas, we will have a chance to win.

TO ALL PANTHER FANS… IT'S GAME TIME!!! A huge boost for our guys would be to come out of the locker room this weekend to a packed and boisterous throng of the PANTHER FAITHFUL! I truly believe that we have one of the best facilities in all of the CIS, and I think it would be such a great advantage to see every one of the brand new seats in our gym full this weekend!
