Vernelle Johnson to join basketball Panthers
Vernelle Johnson, Halifax, NS, has committed to the Panthers for the upcoming 2017/18 season.
University of Prince Edward Island Men's Basketball Head Coach Tim Kendrick is pleased to announce Vernelle Johnson, Halifax, NS, has committed to the Panthers for the upcoming 2017/18 season.
The forward/centre currently attends Halifax Grammar School whose basketball team is ranked in the top five in Nova Scotia. Johnson was a member of Team Nova Scotia that won the 2015 U17 National Basketball Championship.
Coach Kendrick said, "We are very pleased and excited to welcome Vernelle to the Panthers. He is a committed student athlete, and we feel that he will be a solid piece of our program for the next five years. His size and tremendous potential will certainly benefit us for sure."
"When I came to UPEI for a visit I immediately felt like family, the love that thecoaching staff and team showed me made my decision a no brainer." said Johnson, "Being able to take kinesiology and be somewhat close to home also made my decision easy."
Johnson is interested in the Faculty of Science Kiniseology program at UPEI.
