Power forward Payne joins UPEI after season away from game

The 22-year-old power forward from Florida took a year off after finishing his fifth season in the OHL.
The time away re-ignited his passion for the game. He's now committed to joining the UPEI Panthers in September.
"The one thing I was missing in my life was hockey, and not just regular hockey but competitive hockey," Payne said Wednesday. "To not be going out every night and battling for something you love really changed my perspective . . . .
"I'm really excited again about hockey and excited to get on the ice there."
